Our long time client and now good friend, Captain Alan Routh is no stranger to web marketing. In fact, we first revamped his website sometime back in 2006. Here is a look at the site he had back before we revamped it. You can see he desperately needed our help. Michael Grimm (guide to fishing guides), our seo, took the project on and made it his top priority.
With older technologies and a tight budget, we gave Captain Alan a static html site that featured a custom photo gallery and fishing report back end. It was critical to build content and make it easy for fishing guides to do on their own. This functionality along with a beautiful, ‘fishy’ design was the ticket to improving his online presence.
Here is a look at the site we did for him almost 10 years ago. We were certainly ahead of our time and just about the only firm offering charter fishing web design.
Captain Alan and Mike have been discussing a revamp that would put the entire site into a content management system for a few years (using wordpress). The captain has been getting so much business from the current site and his customers were raving about how professional his site was, that is was a bit tough to justify the additional expense of thousands of dollars to revamp what already works… He had to trust us on his one…
Well here in 2015, Google announced ‘mobilegeddon’. Now it was absolutely crucial that all websites are responsive and mobile friendly. Back in 2006, we weren’t even thinking about mobile friendly sites on our poor quality phones. But today, it is a standard to have all sites respond perfectly to all devices such as iPhones, iPads, Android Devices, etc.
Why is this so important? Let’s look at the customer that is in town for 2 weeks and looking to book a charter (fill time). Do you think he traveled with his computer or phone? 9 times out of 10 a customer is far more likely to book a charter when they have used their mobile device to search. So let’s make their mobile experience an awesome adventure that is easy to read, look at pictures and book a trip. Mike wrote the book on this… Really.
Being that Captain Alan was a long time client, we gave him priority over new business to get his new site up before the deadline put out by Google. We worked around the clock to come up with a gorgeous design that would get even more compliments than his old website.

Since launching this website, we have seen an increase in his already high amount of leads (emails and phone calls). And we are just getting started. With a strong PPC and SEO marketing plan, we continue to dominate the Sarasota fishing scene.
